Ceramic Fiber Board Applications in Aluminum Melting Furnaces

Aluminum melting furnaces operate at temperatures typically between 700°C and 1000°C. While these temperatures are lower than those in steel or glass furnaces, efficient thermal insulation is still critical for energy savings and consistent melt quality.

Ceramic fiber boards offer an excellent insulation solution for aluminum melting furnaces. They provide:

  • Low thermal conductivity — reduces heat loss through the furnace shell.
  • Low heat storage — allows faster heating and cooling cycles.
  • Excellent thermal shock resistance — withstands repeated door openings and temperature fluctuations.
  • Easy installation — boards can be cut to size on site, reducing downtime.

For aluminum melting furnaces, we recommend our 1260°C or 1400°C ceramic fiber boards. These boards are suitable for the hot face or back-up insulation in the furnace door, walls, and roof. For higher-temperature zones, such as the burner area, a 1400°C grade is preferred.

At FOVO Thermal, we manufacture ceramic fiber boards from 1400°C to 1900°C, including polycrystalline mullite fiber boards and alumina fiber boards. We offer custom sizes with no minimum order quantity. Contact us for a free selection recommendation.
